Freelance Work
Real Work on the Web
Freelance Work - This is, I believe the quickest way to make money on the web. Basically people looking for work to be done, post jobs or contracts to a web site. People looking for jobs place bids on the projects or jobs, and if the job giver likes the offer and accompanying mail then the deal is done.
The Advantages of the system is:-
- In some cases the payment is guaranteed
- The hirer has a track record on view on the site.
- You can ask questions from the hirer as any time.
- The more work you complete the more you will receive due to comments left by your hirers.
The disadvantages are:-
- In some cases the payment is quite low as you are competing with people wanting this type of work from lower paying countries, their offers are normally much lower. Although if you can prove a good quality of work, (send a sample), then you can still get the work.
- Many of the systems are geared towards computer work such as web site creation or filling in forms, but also graphics and accountancy are prominent on many sites.
- Commissions are charged on all work, usually by the hirer but also in some cases by the provider.
Freelance work is not for everyone, it requires discipline, and a good home office, people hiring expect a good standard of service, providers should try to exceed their expectations.
Below I will review the most popular of these site, there are many on the web, although the majority do not receive many applications for workers, those below are very active and can often have 5,000 to 6,000 open jobs at one time.
GetaFreelancer
A very good site, free to join and has a escrow system, over 80 different job categories from Architecture to XML - A very good system of grading hirers and providers.

oDesk
In my view the best of the freelance sites, very well organized and slick, there is free software included in the membership which will track the time spent on projects. Very nice interface and very good help system.
Elance
This also is one of the major freelance sites, although free to join the costs for anything but basic membership are quite high. Good selection of work categories but limited choice for free signup's. Changes in your category of interest can take a month before they are changed.
.
These are the main freelance sites on the web, well worth a look.
